Palermo 8_17 november 2019
Meetings, launching of books, exhibitions. But, above all, it is the national and international companies that feature this edition number 44 of the Festival di Morgana, a historic event, which is renewed annually. Its absolute protagonists are the Sicilian traditional pupi, puppet theater and contemporary theater.
In the two weekends from 8 to 17 November 2019, Palermo will be transformed into a diffused theater. Beyond the “Antonio Pasqualino” International Puppet Museum, the shows will be performer in other evocative places of culture: the Garibaldi theater, the former church of San Mattia Apostolo dei Crociferi, the Carlo Magno theater, the San Lorenzo oratory. On stage there will be10 image theater companies and artists from all over Europe.
From Spain: David Espinosa with a trilogy (Mi gran obra, Una historia universal and Much Ado about Nothing), and the company El Patio Teatro that stages the show A Mano, tank to the funding of the Instituto Cervantes of Palermo.
From France: Marzia Gambardella stages OperettAlzheimer, a show programmed in collaboration with "La Francia in Scena", the artistic season of the Institut français Italia, organized with the funding of the Institut Français, the Ministère de la Culture and the Nuovi Mecenati Foundation.
Italy is represented by Gli Sbuffi company (from Castellammare di Stabia), Fabiana Icozzilli (from Rome), Trentino Jazz (from Trento), Marta Cuscunà (from Monfalcone), Giovanni Calcagno (from catania) and Carmela Catalano and Barbara Mazzola from Palermo.
A programme of performances that intertwines the languages of tradition and contemporaneity and tells the resistance of women, give life to the stuccoes of Serpotta, bring on stage prodigious paladins, evoke the charm of Shakespeare: and Palermo becomes a diffused theater.
The programme also includes some related events: I tre cavalieri, an exhibition of drawings by Enzo Patti; the presentation of the Horizone 2020 project - "PuppetPlays" by Didier Plassard and Rosario Perricone; and the launching of the book Senka and the magical women written by Ramona Parenzan and illustrated by Maria Spinelli (Edizioni Museo Pasqualino).
